About the Property

Nestled amidst picturesque and tranquil surroundings, Mount Meru Game Lodge is perfectly situated between the Usa River and a serene sanctuary. The sanctuary is a haven for water buffalo, diverse bird species, and the elusive Colobus monkey. This remarkable lodge is conveniently located a mere 30-minute drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), making it an ideal starting point for your safari adventure. The lodge and sanctuary have a rich history dating back to 1959 when Dr. Von Nagy purchased the property as a family home. It was later transformed into an animal sanctuary and orphanage, known as the Mount Meru Wildlife Reserve, dedicated to protecting the wildlife on Mount Meru, which is now part of Arusha National Park. The lodge, originally Dr. Von Nagy's home, has grown in popularity and remains in family hands, offering guests a memorable experience in Arusha.
