Food & Drink
At Serengeti Simba Lodge, the culinary experience is centered around continental cuisine, highlighting the use of premium local ingredients with a focus on health and freshness. Daily delights include freshly baked bread and rolls, while accommodating various dietary preferences such as vegetarian and gluten-free diets. The lodge avoids fatty, fried, and oily foods, prioritizing wholesome meals. Guests can relish Tanzanian coffee, tea, and an array of locally produced herbal teas and hot chocolate. Breakfast features a buffet with homemade granola, fresh fruit selection, pancakes or muffins, made-to-order oatmeal and eggs, and a selection of spreads. The four-course dinner buffet encompasses a vegetarian-based soup, salad, two entrées that rotate between fish, beef, chicken, pork, or vegetarian protein options, along with steamed veggies, potatoes or rice, and a local food option. Unique lunch options, including quiche, pizza, and salads or heartier choices like spaghetti, curry, and rice, make for a distinctive dining experience. The lodge is flexible in accommodating special meal schedules and requests, ensuring guests have a memorable culinary journey.
Rooms
Serengeti Simba Lodge offers two distinct types of accommodation. The first option comprises fifteen uniquely designed "tents" that combine the romantic essence of tent living with the security of more permanent structures. These tents are constructed with canvas walls on solid stone foundations, thatch roofs, attached concrete baths, outdoor showers, and private decks with sweeping Serengeti views. They are available in five twin and ten queen configurations, with triple arrangements possible.
The second option is the six-room Stone House, which includes two twin, two queen, and two family rooms, each featuring two queen beds. The family rooms can accommodate an additional twin bed for a child. With awe-inspiring vistas of the Serengeti savannah and the distant Grumeti River, these rooms offer a captivating ambiance. All en-suite tents and rooms provide magnificent views of the Serengeti, with most enjoying either a sunrise or sunset view. Each room is tastefully decorated with local fabrics and hardwood furniture, complete with mosquito nets on the beds. Full amenities are available, and rooms are solar-powered with solar-heated water. Additionally, there's a power strip for battery charging, which is active when the lodge's generator operates for approximately six hours daily. The rooms are equipped with torches (flashlights), umbrellas, secure safes for valuables, and whistles for security alerts. Since the solar lighting may be dimmer than guests are accustomed to, a headlamp or book light is recommended for nighttime reading. Due to the solar electrical system, the use of hairdryers is not possible at Serengeti Simba Lodge. Guests with CPAP machines must ensure they run on battery power and should be well-versed in their operation, as they need to assist the lodge staff in charging the battery, with prior notification upon booking.
