"I had a short window to plan an exciting adventure for myself. I admit it was a bit of a leap of faith on my part, but I decided to entrust Cloud Safari with one of my lifelong “bucket list” trips to visit South Africa. From day one in the planning stage, Markus and Al listened intently to what I was seeking to get out of this trip (timeframe, activities, interests, travel and accommodation options and budget). For this trip, in the first leg I wanted to spend a few days in Cape Town seeing the local sights and visiting wine country for a day. I did not want to worry about logistics, getting around and navigating on my own. CloudSafari hooked me up with a personal guide, Rory, who was just awesome! He was waiting with a sign for me at the airport when I arrived. He then made some fantastic recommendations for my first day of arrival that allowed me to get a good sense of Cape Town.
On day two he picked me up and took me to table Mountain, we also visited an area with wild penguins and great local locations for lunch and dinner. On day three we drove along the stunning coastline to beautiful wine country and we went to 3 different wineries as well as a gin distillery and a whiskey distillery. Rory is very knowledgeable, passionate and a pleasure to chat with. He knows lots of local gems and caters his service to your individual tastes. I can’t believe how much we covered in 3 days and the entire time was completely stress-free as I didn’t have to worry about any details.

On Day 4, I flew north to Kruger national park where I spent 8 nights at two different safari camps. Again, Cloud Safari picked some fantastic options for me at UmKumbe safari lodge in Sabi Sands and Honeyguide Montobeni in Manyeleti. Again, all details were sorted. My accommodation at both locations was fantastic. The general common areas were very peaceful and relaxing. Both included a dipping pool, bar, fire pit and great food. The guides were all knowledgeable, passionate and eager to please.
The accommodation is extremely comfortable, very spacious and with fantastic amenities. The beds were very comfortable and the sounds of nature lulled me to sleep each night. You are certainly not “roughing” it in terms of the accommodation. It was more like “glamping”, but make no mistake, you are very much “in the bush”. The daily safari’s (morning and night) were just brilliant. I saw every animal I wanted to see and more, including the big five and some very close encounters with elephants, lions Cape Buffalo and so much more.
