Well I was feeling a little under the weather and being evacuated from Mount Kilimanjaro trek. Stopped here at 1:00 am and slept in wood camp building for about 2 hours before walking another 2 hours with my guide to an awaiting safari rescue vehicle some 1 1/2 walk in the dark away! Seemed clean enough, filled with bunk beds!

It’s starting to get cold now and there was ice on the tent this morning at Shira one. Today you have crossed the Shira Plateau with great views of Kilimanjaro. An acclimatisation walk to cathedral point gives you views of the Shira ridge and then it’s on to Shira two camp.

A short hike from Shira 1 which is of a flat terrain most of the way. Can have a glimpse of the summit for the 1st time in this route.. once reached, can have a spectacular view of the golden summit at sunset..

Such an amazing, once in a lifetime experience. We visited last fall and took the 6 day route with Altezza and couldn't have asked for a better experience. It was a fairly mild to moderate hike up until the summit night, that was definitely the hardest. Some of our group got altitude sickness, but were taken good care of and we all made it to the top and back. Would definitely recommend!!

Once in a life time experience. Better to choose 7-8 days of trek to get adapted to the climate and altitude. Best time to visit is in July-August. Make sure you physically fit mentally strong to complete summit successfully.

I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, being the tallest mountain in Africa located in Tanzania, with its highest peak at 5,895Meters (19,340 feet). I am at Uhuru Peak (highest peak) and very proud of myself for having achieved this milestone.

The climb was gentle the first few days and once we got to Kibo Hut at 4,720M above sea level, I felt a bit queasy, the air was thinner, breathing was a bit more difficult but manageable. I experienced some altitude sickness, though we had also taken some time to adjust to the elevation. I never imagined sleeping at such an altitude either!

We were a great team, with experienced guides, cook, porters and fellow hikers.
Our vitals were taken at each elevation, which is good to monitor how your body is doing as you assess yourself on a scale of 1-10 on how you feel.

On descending and looking back, I feel like it was just a dream... Wow, did I do that!.. And now I have just woken up and preparing for my next hike..
I received a certificate too!

Well, this achievement and experience also demonstrates my own goals that I can attain outside the corporate world. Take some time off, prepare and do it!

The camp has well serviced toilets and it has a functional helipad.
It also gives you an amazing view of Mt. Kilimanjaro

Very pleasant camp with new toilets cleaned every day. The hike down to the camp is pretty and the hike next day via the Baranco Wall exciting. Having the wall and the peak in your view in the morning with the first hikers making it up the wall, triumphantly yelling from above is just fun and pumps you up for the day's  adventure :)

After Lava Tower it is a straight down trek to Baranco Camp. It is a great view for the evening after a long day. The Baranco Wall is almost too massive to comprehend scaling, but we will tomorrow!

In my opinion, this camp had the most spectacular view. There's also signal towers here so you can send messages to your loved ones. The reason i consider this to be one of the best campsites is because you had this behemoth called the Baranco wall staring at you that you would be ascending the following day. You will also find a large amount of senecio trees before you reach the camp. It's also the only camp where I saw a flowing stream. You also get a beautiful view of an ocean of clouds. You are truly sleeping above the clouds at this camp site. Getting here was quite challenging due to the altitude but it was totally worth it.

Tackled just after breakfast this 1000ft scramble is not technically difficult but you are at 13,000ft so you need to concentrate. It is quite exhilarating and from the top there are great views of the great barranco valley all the way down to Moshi and also of Kilimanjaro itself which is getting closer now.

The barranco wall is an amazing climb. It's not difficult if you've been doing research on preparing for it but do train so you can enjoy the climb! It's the best part of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, you take off early in the morning which you get to enjoy the amazing colors in the sky. The climb does not require any serious skill. Normal fitness is enough to ascend. View from the top caldera is impressive.

This is one of the camps I truly enjoyed a whole night sleep on my way to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. It is at 3995m above sea level and offers a nice place to acclimatize. At this camp we could see both Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru during sunset. Just like most camps it comes with clean toilets.

This camp is a straight forward hike from Karanga camp. The camp sits at 4673m above sea level. At this camp, you can see the beautiful view of the Mawenzi peak and the Kibo peak.
The camp is sloppy and since it is quite high, it is very cold and sometimes even snows.
This camp serves as the base camp as you ascend to the Uhuru peak.
Barafu camp is close to Kosovo camp which sits at around 5000m asl.

This to me is the point at which when you reach at, you know you deserve a medal. Take a minute and pat yourself at the back. In my opinion Sunrise as Stella point should still be enjoyed as at Uhuru peak. At Stella point you can still see the beautiful glaciers and a view of the crater.

Tough hike up in the cold but such a rewarding feeling to arive there on the way to the summit.  Our guides were terrific, ClimbKili did an amazing job with our group.  Amazing experience all around.

A fantastic place to be with great views of the surrounding area. The day we went, the wind was svery strong, one of the strongest in the past 6 years. Uhuru Peak is an easy 45 minutes away, don't give up and make sure you get to the peak.

Our World Vision Team spent six incredible days with the goal to reach Uhuru Peak. The hike up the mountain was physically and mentally challenging. Uhuru means freedom and once you reach the summit it's the most incredible feeling ever. All of your hard work and willpower to never give up is what you experience at the top. You feel accomplished. You reached the summit and conquered the highest peak in Africa and the tallest mountain rise in the entire world! You did it!

A fantastic experience pole pole up on summit day, mostly in the dark. We had great weather together with a great view above the clouds. The glaciers were clearly visible above the clouds, although we were told they're getting smaller due to climate change.

Congrats to everybody who makes it up here. My highlight was reaching Stella Point and getting a glimpse into the crater. So reaching Uhuru Peak just feels like an "unnecessary" additional 1 hour of a hike on relatively flat terrain just to tick it off or a point you want to take a picture at and get the he'll down again. Still, the views to the ice glaciers nearby make the hike very much worthwhile. Again, congrats to all of us who make it up here!

Mweka Camp is strategically located on Mount Kilimanjaro's Mweka Route, serving as a primary descent campsite for climbers who have reached the summit via various routes. Situated at an altitude of approximately 3,100 meters (10,170 feet), it provides a much-needed resting point after the exhausting summit attempt. The camp is nestled in the upper forest zone, offering a cooler and more humid environment compared to the higher altitudes, with the potential for rain. This setting allows climbers to enjoy the rich biodiversity of Kilimanjaro's montane forest, including dense vegetation and the chance to hear and see various bird species. Mweka Camp features basic amenities for climbers to rest and recover, preparing for the final descent to the park gate the next day. The camp's location also offers picturesque views of the mountain above and the opportunity for reflection on the accomplishment of reaching Uhuru Peak.
